TEOTITLAN, OAXACA, MEXICO - JULY 9: The town of Teotitlan del Valle, as seen from the top of the Preciosa Sangre de Cristo Church. TeotitlÃ¡n del Valle is a small village and municipality located in the Tlacolula District in the east of the Valles Centrales Region, 30 minutes from the city of Oaxaca in the foothills of the Sierra JuÃ¡rez mountains. It is part of the Tlacolula Valley district. The town lies at the foot of El Picacho, which is considered the sacred mountain of TeotitlÃ¡n. The name TeotitlÃ¡n comes from Nahuatl and means âland of the godsâ. Its Zapotec name is Xaguixe, which means âat the foot of the mountainâ.
